The Tyler ISD Board of Trustees has selected competitive bidding as the project delivery/contract method to be used for this project.
Sealed bids are requested for the 2008 HVAC Renovations, John Tyler High School, Tyler Independent School District.
TISD Bid No. 041008 includes new air conditioning for selected areas of John Tyler High School.
Sealed bids will be received by the Tyler ISD Purchasing Department at the following location: The Maintenance Director’s Conference Room at 1335 West 8th Street, Tyler, Texas 75701. Bids received after bid date and time will not be accepted. All interested parties are invited to attend. Bids will be opened publicly and read aloud.
Drawings and specifications may be examined at the Engineers’ Office: the Office of the Director of Facility Services, Tyler ISD and McGraw Hill Construction, 9155 Sterling Drive, Suite 160, Irving, Texas 75603 (Phone: 972-819-1400).
Copies of the above Bidding documents may be obtained from J & S Blueprint, 326 South Collect, Tyler, Texas 75702 (Phone: 903-592-0399), in accordance with the instructions to Bidders upon the deposit of $150.00 for each set of documents. Two set maximum will be issued to each General Contractor. Make checks payable to Estes, McClure & Associates, Inc., 3608 West Way, Tyler, Texas 75703. Only deposits of bonafide bidders who actually submit a bid will be returned as noted in the specifications. The shipping and/or postage expenses of the plans and specifications shall be at the bidder’s expense.
Bid Security in the amount of 5% of bid must accompany each bid in accordance with the instructions to Bidders. The successful bidders shall provide Payment and Performance Bonds.
Attention is called to the fact that not less than those wages listed on the wage rate schedules as adopted by the Tyler ISD Board of Trustees will be paid on the project. All Contractors shall comply with prevailing wage rates in accordance with the civil statues of the State of Texas.
The Owner reserves the right to waive irregularities and to reject any or all Bids. The Tyler Independent School District reserves the right to separate or eliminate any item it deems necessary to accommodate budgetary and/or operational requirements. The Tyler Independent School District also reserves the right to reject any or all Bids or parts of the Bids, and waiver all formalities, and to award the Bid in the best interest of the Tyler Independent School District. The Tyler Independent School District also reserves the right to award to other than the lowest bidder under statutory mandate 271.027(b) Local Government Code.
The General Contractor shall be a Mechanical Contractor and shall have been in business seven continuous years under the company bidding this project. Specific related school experience is required. All Bidders shall visit the job sites before submitting bid. Bid bond and Payment and Performance Bond are required of the General Contractor.
The Mechanical Contractor shall be required to provide Bid Bond and Payment and Performance Bond as specified herein.

The Bid Security will not be returned until all bonds are provided.
The successful bidder shall be required to attend the pre-construction conference prior to the beginning of the work.
A Pre-Bid Conference will be held April 7, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. at the Tyler Administration Building. It is highly recommended that companies submitting proposals attend.
Tyler ISD encourages the participation of qualified historically underutilized businesses.
