Company named to Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index for sustainable corporate governance
MILWAUKEE, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Strong climate change disclosure practices have earned Johnson Controls a commendation from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), which also included the company in its Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index.
The index is comprised of 67 companies within the FTSE Global 500 Index for their positive approach to corporate governance and climate change disclosure practices.
Companies recognized in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index must participate in the CDP's 2008 questionnaire, with results serving as an evaluation tool for institutional investors. The companies are evaluated on greenhouse gas emissions, emissions reduction targets, and risks and opportunities associated with climate change.
As a member of the CDP Supply Chain Leadership Collaboration, Johnson Controls goes beyond minimum disclosure standards by requiring that its suppliers and partners participate in the survey on the company's behalf. The Index includes evaluations of the top 34 companies selected from non-carbon-intensive sectors and the top 33 companies selected from carbon-intensive sectors, including Johnson Controls.
